Being together brings Happiness

Dear Batch mate,

Wishing you all a very very happy and prosperous New Year 2008 I submit the following few words expressing my experience and feelings at the Thiruchy meet during 29-30 December 2007.

Our Thiruchy boys B. Sugumar, G. Natarajan and K.K. Palanisamy have made the two days of our stay together very pleasant taking sufficient pains to extend a warm welcome to every one of us with personal attention and utmost care apart from having organized wonderful events that made us forget all our day to day worldly problems.

The get together took a dynamic start with the traditional Bharathanatyam performance by two very talented artists of excellent skills and continued with the novel introduction of batchmates by none other than the humor King S. Jayaraman whose sense of timing and presence of mind in conveying the details on the most prominent features and activities of every batchmate with humor that never failed to make us all laugh to our hearts content.

The momentos presented to every batchmate included a large sized tea cup with the photograph showing the family members of the respective batchmate and a versatile electronic clock cum calendar cum temperature indicator in addition to the personal diary containing the addresses, telephone numbers and email addresss of all batchmates who have been able to come together so far. The book about guiding children in their life and career is a very useful one for every one of us who at times are at a loss to find the proper solution to handle certain difficult situations. The beautiful Ravivarma's painting the masterpiece presented with these is the most memorable one that will always remind of the days that we were together on seeing the same.

I beg your pardon for having forgotten to mention the very valuable prize of a water heater presented to one of us by our buddy Selvarathnam who has taken much pains to carry the prize allover from home to the venue of the event and to my surprise it was your kuravan who won the prize by a lucky draw presented by Selvamani with his personal computer. The family photograph of every batchmate being introduced was projected on a large screen from the personal computer as and when the batchmates arrived and left the stage.

The presentation of a beautiful saree with the matching blouse for every lady of the batchmates' family by our Coimbatore boys is a novelty indeed. The T-shirts containing the CIT emblem that are presented by our Chennai boys made us known to all. A youth who rode on his motorcycle with his companion stopped for a while on the bridge across the river Kaveri at Mukkombu and enquired about the emblem to me and I told him that we are old students of Coimbatore institute of Technology.

Having taken the delicious lunch served soon after the introduction session we relaxed for a short time and proceeded to Mukkombu, a place of natural beauty with all facilities for us and for all our children to spend the evening pleasantly. The variety entertainment and dinner followed soon after short meetings conducted among ourselves under the leadership of our beloved S. Selvamani from whom many of us took guidance during all our examinations when in college and succeeded with flying colors.

The topic of discussion included the ways and means to take care of every one of us in our old age apart from several other factors. The scheme for this is being analyzed by the committe including Selvamani and will be communicated to us soon.

The venue for the next meet in December 2009 was finalized to be conducted at Erkad being led by our Salem boys S.V. Nagarajan, K. Boopathiraju and M. Selvarathnam who is taking this responsibility for the second time after having brought us all together in December 2001 for the first such get together which was a grand event that made us realize what we had missed so far in our lives and made our life meaningful ever after that.

Having returned to the Hotel after dinner and having a good sleep the batchmates gathered at the hotel lobby on 30th morning from where we were taken to the guest house at the historical grand anaicut, the Kallanai, a beautiful location where we had a wonderful time with the variety entertainment including the short play organized by our buddys S. Jayaraman, S. Ganapathy and Livingston Peter Goldwyn taking all our minds back to the lfe we enjoyed in our college days followed by the hillarious performance by the Madurai Comedy boys who made everyone laugh heartily from start to finish.

A very delicious traditional lunch was served that made us feel as though we were attending a grand marriage. We were filled with a little grief when the time came for us all to part once again before we can meet again.
